Yam Frid
In loving memory · 2004–2025
Sergeant Yam Farid (10.5.2004–8.5.2025) was a combat soldier in the Golani Combat Unit, 21 years old when he fell. Yam grew up in Moshav Sal'it and was the eldest son of Keren and Yitzhak, and brother to Yahali and Dean. He stood out for his values, his humility, his love of people, and his relentless drive for excellence. Through the "Five Fingers" movement and the "Galil Elyon" pre-military academy, he emerged as a quiet leader, a loyal friend, and someone who always acted for others. When the Iron Swords war broke out, he volunteered to serve, and in December 2023 he was drafted into the IDF. During his service as a combat soldier in the Golani Combat Unit, he participated in operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. On May 8, 2025, during fighting in Rafah, he saved the life of a wounded comrade — and later that same day, fell in battle. Yam left behind a legacy of friendship, giving, courage, leadership, and love of the land.
This app was created in honor of his love for cisterns and water caves — the hidden places he sought out and cherished.
"Friendship — I was a friend to everyone. Values — I was a human being. Never giving up — until the very last moment."
